Last Friday, the St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA) Color Guard presented the colors during the National Anthem before the Friday Night Lights LA Bowl Game between Servite High School and St. John Bosco High School.
SCA Military Director, Staff Sergeant May, prepared the cadets before they took the field and reminded them how big of a moment they were about to have.
“This is one of those things in their lives that they’re going to remember,” May said. “Just like you can look back at things in our lives that we’ve done, that have helped us build confidence, the next time they do something big, they’ll remember that they can handle just about anything.”
Mateo Navarro Nelas, an international 8th-grade student from Mexico, said he was feeling the jitters before the performance.
“I’m feeling kind of nervous, but excited because this is my first game at SoFi [Stadium],” said Nelas. “I’m glad and honored I get to do this with my friends because it’ll be something we get to talk about for a long time.”
This was the color guard's first time performing at SoFi stadium.
